August auto sales got a boost from the government’s Cash-for-Clunkers program, although results for American car makers were underwhelming.

“Of all of them, Ford managed a 17% gain… Analysts continue to think Ford might be being rewarded by consumers for not taking bailout money.”

I’ve never gotten into the hold Chevy vs. Ford debate — but after the government owns GM, pontiac, buick, chrysler, etc….. i’ll never buy from those companies. Those cars are toxic, and they have a problem because there are many like me. It is not because of the bailout money, per se, it’s because the government owns them for me. But taking bailout money set up government ownership.
