GM to Remaining Dealers: Learn to Sell Small Cars

small-car-conceptBrent Dewar, Chevrolet vice president, told reporters the company expects “to see a modest recovery in 2010 and a better recovery in 2011.”

The recovery is based on the projection that smaller cars will surge to overtake trucks and SUVs as GM’s best sellers. That means the remaining GM dealers will have to get used to promoting and selling smaller cars if they want to survive.

Dewar impressed upon dealers the importance of selling smaller vehicles with premium interiors and options, which typically yield higher transaction prices and profits.

Dewar said Chevrolet will introduce more models in the U.S. market “that will allow us to be more relevant in the youth and eco markets.”

Two key models, the Chevrolet Cruze compact car and Volt extended-range electric vehicle, will be introduced next year.

Last week GM decided to ax a new Buick compact SUV—just days after it was deemed essential to the success of the brand. So it comes as no surprise that many GM dealers, who had much success in the SUV heyday, are concerned.

“We’re kind of in the dark,” said Leaird Cameron, general manager of Cliff Anschuetz Chevrolet Cadillac in Alpena.

Additional meetings with dealers are scheduled for October, during which Cameron expects to hear more about new products.

GM has been taken over by the left-leaning ideologues that think everyone will be green. Not so, people need bigger cars — and like them. They are the top selling for a reason, and these sales will pickup — this is going to be a very costly and horrible move for GM.

Frankly GM, I don’t give a damn. I will never again buy a product from your company…or should I say, ObamaCar. I can’t do anything about the tax dollars the government took from my pocket to give to GM but like a lot of people, I can sure as hell not do business with your miserable company.

When Obama-Car goes under another trillion will be shoveled to save the union, then the communist will start with the regulations to force people to purchase these POS.

Because of course, Barry Soetoro knows better than all Americans what cars they need and should have. 2012 can get here so enough to get rid of these jackals.

Dear Leader has spoken to his “corporation.” “To those comrades whom I permitted to survive in “business”: Thou shalt all sell small cars.” LOL.
